(GENESIS 1) HOUSE ON STILTS

DOWN THE SHORE WHERE I LIVE

THEY BUILD HOUSES ON STILTS

IT LOOKS ODD

AS IF THEY BUILT IT

FROM THE ROOF DOWN

AND FORGOT THE CELLAR

IT’S TO ALLOW THE OCCASIONAL

HIGH TIDE

OR STORM SURGE

TO PASS UNDER THE HOUSE

PROTECTING IT AND ITS CONTENTS

HOW LIKE A MAN

TO COME TO A OCEAN’S EDGE

BUILD ABOVE IT

OR OVER IT

A MORTAL’S WAY

OF WALKING ON WATER

HOW LIKE A MAN

TO COME TO THE ENVELOPS EDGE

AND PUSH IT OUT

AND THIS WAS A TRAIT

THE CREATOR FATHER GAVE MAN

TO QUESTION

TO SEEK ANSWERS

IT’S THE REASON

MAN HAS DONE GLORIOUS THINGS

IT’S THE REASON

MAN HAS DONE UN-GLORIOUS THINGS

NO TELLING WILL TEACH HIM

HE HAS TO LEARN BY HIMSELF

THE STOVE IS HOT

WE’VE HAD FOR TOO LONG

A SPIRITUALITY

THAT DEHUMANIZES MAN

WOULD TURN US ALL

TO THE DESERT FATHERS

BUT MAN’S GREATEST GIFT TO GOD

IS MAN FULLY ALIVE

AS ST IRENAEUS SAID

SO MAN CAN PLUMB THE DEPTHS OF SPACE

THE DEPTHS OF HIS SOUL

THE DEPTH OF DEPRAVITY

BUT COME

BE THE MAN I CREATED

COME AND BE THE WONDER OF MY WORKS

FOR MY WORD IS TRUE

AND WILL COME TO FRUITION

IT NEEDS YOU

YOU

YOU AND YOU

TO BUILD A HOUSE ABOVE THE STORM

ABOVE THE RAGING SEA

WHERE MEN WILL BE MEN

IN THE HOUSE THAT WE SHALL BUILD

SALT (Matthew 5:13)(Mark 9:38-50)

SALT IS PURE

IF IT LOSES ITS FLAVOR

IT’S NOT THE SALT

BUT FOREIGN MATTER

WHICH IS WHAT JESUS SAYS

BE IN THE WORLD

BUT NOT OF IT

SALT ADDS FLAVOR TO FOOD

LIKE A CHRISTIAN

SHOULD AFFECT

HIS SURROUNDINGS

SALT IS USED FOR HEALING

WHICH IS A PRIMARY TASK

FOR A CHRISTIAN

SALT IS USED

TO PREVENT FOOD FROM GOING BAD

IT’S AN ACTIVE MINERAL

SO SHOULD WE

SALT WAS USED AS A SALARY

REMINDING US

THAT THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH

THE WAGES OF GOODNESS

IS LIFE EVERLASTING

SALT HAS BEEN USED IN BURIAL RITES

A REMINDER

OF THE GREAT PRICE

CHRIST PAID

SALT IS USED IN SOME RITES AT BAPTISM

AS A SIGN OF PRESERVING THE SOUL FROM SIN

SALT

SO GREAT A THING

SO SMALL A THING

LIKE GOD AND ME

COME FLAVOR MY LIFE

WITH YOUR SWEETNESS
