JESUS’ WORDS
I have made your name known to those
whom you gave me from the world
I’M REMINDED
WHEN I READ
JESUS’ WORDS
MY OWN CHILDREN’S WORDS
TO ME
FATHER
ARE YOU PROUD OF ME
I’VE DONE WHAT YOU ASKED
THERE IS A NOSTALGIA
IN HIS WORDS
HE WAS LEAVING HIS FRIENDS
IN AN UNWELCOMING WORLD
THE TASK HAD BEEN PASSED ON
TO FRAIL AND FRAGILE HANDS
HE WOULD BE WITH THEM FOREVER
BUT THE WORK WAS THEIRS
HE KNEW
AS A PARENT KNOWS
THAT THE BIKE
WOULD BE LEFT IN THE RAIN
THE TOOL
WOULD NOT BE RETURNED
THE PET
THEY PROMISED TO CARE FOR
WOULD BECOME HIS PET
NECESSARY STEPS
TO BECOMING RESPONSIBLE
I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I ask you to protect them
from the evil one
THEIR TASK
WAS TO MAKE THE WORLD BETTER
BY LIVING THE GOSPEL
TO LOVE OTHERS
AS HE LOVED THEM
TO FORGIVE WRONGS
SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN
TO STAND WITH
THE POOR
THE SICK
THE LONELY
TO WORK
THAT THE KINGDOM
MIGHT COME
TO MAKE NO COMPROMISES
WITH THAT WISH
AND TO DIE
RATHER THAN
DENY IT
